Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time: Saturday & Sunday, February 21st & 22nd , 2009

Day of Prayer for Temperance


·We thank you for last weeks Offertory Collection which amounted to €1,411 and the Accord Collection which amounted to €2,450.

·Next Wednesday, February 29th, is Ash Wednesday. Blessed ashes will be distributed after the 10am Mass.

·A Parish Mission and Celebration of Hope will take place in the parish church on the evenings of March 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. Members of the Mission Team will also speak at all Masses on Saturday and Sunday 28th and 29th of March. The Mission will be conducted by members of The Ember Team, all of whom are trained in the Vincentian tradition. A brochure giving details of each of the evening’s talks will be circulated to all homes during the coming week.

·We wish to draw your attention to the brochure containing information on our parish’s Child Protection Policy. This publication is available at the entrance doors to the Church, on the Church bookrack and in the Parish Pastoral Centre. We urge parents, who have not as yet collected a copy of this important publication, to take one home with them today. A full copy of the Child Protection Policy is available in the Parish Office and can be viewed on the parish website.

·Children of the Parish who are to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this year are welcome to take part in the Ceremony of Commitment which will take place at the 10am Mass on Sunday next, March 1st. Please leave your child’s name into the Parish Office before Friday the 27th of February.

·Please let the parish office know of any parishioners who may wish to have Holy Communion brought to them in their home.

·We wish to welcome Daniel Kerr who was baptised here last weekend into our Christian community. We congratulate his parents, David and Suzanne and his grandparents Tony and Eithne.

·We wish to offer our condolences to the family of Michael Lim from St. Kevin’s Park. His funeral Mass took place in our church on last Thursday.

·The Bethany Group will have their monthly support meeting in the Parish Centre on Monday next, January 26th at 7.30pm. All those who have suffered loss of any kind are welcome to attend this meeting which will be for one hour’s duration.

·The local Focolaire Community are endeavouring to set up a Children’s Singing Group in the parish. This group will participate in the 10am mass on the 2nd & 3rd Sunday of each month. Parents who are interested in their children becoming involved with this singing group should speak to one of the organisers after Mass.

Weekly Bulletin 14th & 15th February

•We thank you for last weeks Offertory Collection which amounted to €1,320 and the Share Collection which amounted to €887.

•The annual collection for Accord, The Diocesan agency for Marriage and the Family, will take place at all Masses this weekend. Accord is the Diocesan Agency for Marriage and the family. This collection will replace the usual Share Collection.

•A Parish Mission and Celebration of Hope will take place in the parish church on the evenings of March 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. Members of the Mission Team will also speak at all Masses on Saturday and Sunday 28th and 29th of March. •The parish Bethany Group wish to bring to your attention details of a Residential Weekend for bereaved people which will take place in Orlagh College on the weekend commencing Friday 20th February. Further details of this weekend are on the church notice boards.

•The local Focolaire Community are endeavouring to set up a Children’s Singing Group in the parish. This group will participate in the 10am mass on the 2nd & 3rd Sunday of each month. Parents who are interested in their children becoming involved with this singing group should speak to one of the organisers after Mass.

The Milltown Parish Active Retirement Group will have their “Gentle activity to Music” session in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 10.30am on next Tuesday, 3rd of February. Their A.G.M. will be held in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 2.30pm on Tuesday, February 10th. All members are encouraged to attend.

•The annual collection for Accord, The Diocesan agency for Marriage and the Family, will take place at all Masses next weekend. This collection will replace the usual Share Collection.

• A Mass for the Beatification of Alfie Lambe (one of Ireland’s candidates for the sainthood) will take place in the Church of Our Immaculate Lady of Refuge, Rathmines on Saturday Feb. 14th at 3pm.

•We thank those of you who have already returned your Christmas Dues. Acknowledgement of these will be posted to you in due course.

•We wish to welcome Emily Schrier, who was baptised here last Saturday, into our Christian community. We congratulate her parents, Doreen and Mark, and grandparents Yvonne and Ted Finn.

The annual Dublin Diocesan Mass for the World Day of the Sick will be celebrated this Sunday at 3pm in the St. John of God’s Conference Centre in Stillorgan. The main celebrant will be Archbishop Diarmuid Martin. To mark this day in our parish, an Anointing of the Sick will take place this Sunday after the 11.30am Mass.

•The parish Bethany Group wish to bring to your attention details of a Residential Weekend for bereaved people which will take place in Orlagh College on the weekend commencing Friday 20th February. Further details of this weekend are on the church notice boards.

•Following the positive response to last week’s notice re providing a Yoga Class in the Parish Centre, we are pleased to announce that a Yoga course will commence on Thursday February 12th at 3pm. This course will run for 9 weeks, ending on April 9th. The cost for this course is €140. If you are still interested in attending please confirm your booking in the Parish Office.

•We thank you for last weeks Offertory Collection which amounted to €1,499 and the Share Collection which amounted to €1,000.

•We offer our condolences to the family of the late Vivien Mullan from South Hill who died on Friday last. Her funeral Mass will take place at 10am on Monday morning.

•We wish to draw your attention to the brochure containing information on our parish’s Child Protection Policy. This publication is available at the entrance doors to the Church, on the Church bookrack and in the Parish Pastoral Centre. We urge parents, who have not as yet collected a copy of this important publication, to take one home with them today. •Parents of children who will be baptised in the Parish church on Saturday the 7th of February have been invited to attend a Baptism Preparation meeting. This meeting will take place in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 8pm on Monday next, the 2nd of February.

•Milltown Parish Local History Society have arranged a lecture on ‘1916 Irish patriot, Patrick Doyle’ in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 8pm on Monday next, February 2nd 2009. All welcome to attend.

•The parish Flower Group are meeting in the Parish Pastoral Centre after 10am mass on Monday 2nd Feb. Please do come along if you are interested in joining this ministry.
