PARISH CHILD PROTECTION POLICY STATEMENT
We, the Parish of Saints Columbanus and Gall, Milltown, in the Dublin Diocese, value and encourage the participation of children and young people in all parish activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional and social development. We recognise the dignity and rights of all children and are committed to ensuring their protection.
In keeping with this we will do all in our power to create a safe environment for children and young people in order to secure their protection and enable their full participation in the life of the Church.
We appreciate the generous service of the adults who facilitate such participation and respect their integrity.

In line with Diocesan Policy, our parish’s Child Protection Policy has been in place for the last number of years and is reviewed annually by the Parish Pastoral Council. The Diocese requires that ‘Child Protection and Safety’ is a permanent item on the agenda of Parish Council meetings. In order to comply with the following Diocesan directive we are currently in the process of having every parish volunteer Garda Vetted

“Irrespective of the degree of contact (with children), the Dioceses requires all who are employed, or who engage in volunteer ministry or works of service for the Christian community in Diocesan offices, Diocesan agencies or parishes to undergo garda Vetting as an expression of our common commitment to safeguarding children”, (Child safeguarding and Protection Policy and Procedures, March 2011).

If you have any concerns regarding the safety of children please contact one of the following:

Matt Talbot Sunday 3rd July
Each year the Sunday following the Feast of Corpus Christi is designated as Matt Talbot Sunday in the Dublin diocese. This is a Sunday set aside for us to reflect, to pray and to focus our attention on the person and life of Matt Talbot. At this time when so many of our communities are affected by the scourge of alcohol and substance misuse, Matt is set before us as a model of temperance and a source of strength and support to all who suffer from addiction or additive behaviors.
As part of the celebration a Mass will take place at the shrine of the Venerable Matt Talbot in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Sean Mc Dermott Street on Sunday 3rd July at 3pm. All are welcome.

The Discovery Gospel Choir is holding auditions on Tuesday, 5th of July between 5pm and 10pm. in St George and St Thomas' Church, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin1. Each candidate audition will only be about 10-15mins.
