Weekly Bulletin 24th & 25th July

Parish of Saints Columbanus and Gall - Weekly Bulletin
July 24th & 25th 2010, – 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time


Archbishop Martin has appointed Fr. Gerard Deegan as Administrator of Beaumont Parish. Fr. Philip Bradley will replace Fr. Gerard as Administrator of Milltown Parish and will commence his appointment in September. We wish Fr. Gerard and Fr. Philip every blessing in their new appointments.

We thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of €1,065, and the Share Collection which amounted to €776.

A gold ring was found in the church. Please contact the parish office if you have lost a ring.

Ministers of the Word are reminded to collect their copies of the July – September issue of “Guide for Readers” from the Sacristy.

Please contact the Parish Office if you know of any parishioner who is housebound and would like to receive Holy Communion in their home.

The parish requires additional Altar Servers. Please contact one of the priests if your child is interested in joining this ministry. Children must have received their First Holy communion before becoming an altar server.

Any person who has a talent for singing or playing a musical instrument may be interested in joining a group who could participate in the 5.30pm Mass on Sunday evening. Please contact the Parish office if you would like to be a member of this musical group.

Please contact the Parish Office if you have a couple of hours in the month to be friends with a person with special needs, who is a resident of St. Michael’s House.

We wish to remind parishioners that the Parish Pastoral Centre is open for Tea/Coffee every weekday and Sunday morning. Do drop in to meet some of your fellow parishioners.

We are at the moment compiling the Autumn Programme for the Parish Pastoral Centre. Please contact the Parish Office if you have any suggestions for future classes/ events which could be included in this publication.

The Parish Library is located in the Parish Pastoral Centre. A range of books and DVD’s are available for borrowing. The library is open on weekday mornings and on Sunday morning.

The Parish Pastoral Council has proposed a Parish Open Day to be held on Sunday, October 3rd. If you are interested in helping to organise this event please contact the Parish office at 2196740/2680041.

A Milltown Parish Pilgrimage to the Holy Land will take place from October 13th – October 22nd. Flight will go direct from Dublin. Further details of this Pilgrimage are on the Parish Notice Boards. If you are interested in this visit to the Holy land please call:

We thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of €1,012, and the annual collection for the Pope and Pontifical Charities amounted to €1,789.

Cillian Murphy, Daniel Adams, Anna Reid, Cian Barrett, Benjamin Mc. Donnell, & Jack Casserly were baptised in our church last weekend. We welcome them into our Christian community and congratulate their parents.

Gorta would greatly appreciate if you could return your collection bags to the church before 12pm on this Sunday morning.

We thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of € 1203, and the Share Collection which amounted to €893.

The Share collection at Masses this weekend, (July 4th & 5th) will be replaced by the annual Collection for the Pope and Pontifical Charities (Peter’s pence).

There are Gorta bags for collection in the church porches. Please take one with you if you have any clothes, shoes etc. to donate to their Charity shops throughout the city. They would greatly appreciate if you could return your filled bag to the church on next Sunday morning before 12 o’clock. Since 1965 Gorta has supported over 1,500 projects in some of the world’s poorest countries, your support will help them continue the fight against hunger and poverty.
