Sunday, June 28th & 29th, 2008 – Feast of Saints Peter & Paul


· The Annual Peter Pence Collection will replace the Share collection this weekend. This collection helps the Pope, to carry out more effectively his mission of universal charity.

· The Milltown Parish Children’s Choir will sing at the 10am Mass this Sunday morning. This will be their final performance this year. The choir will return in September. We thank Alexandra Jobling and the choir members for the commitment during the last year.

· We wish to thank you for last weekend’s Offertory Collection which amounted to €1062 & the Share Collection which amounted to €703.

· Milltown Parish Local History Society has arranged a ‘Riverside Walk illustrating items of significant historical interest’ on Saturday July 12th at 11am. The walk should take about one hour. All welcome to attend.

· Milltown Parish’s Flower Arrangers Guild requires new members. If you are interested in becoming a member of this ministry perhaps you could contact the Parish Centre or attend a meeting with the existing members in the Parish Pastoral Centre on Monday July 7th at 10.30am.

· Our weekly Parent and Child Coffee Mornings continues to take place on Friday mornings in the Parish Centre at 10.30 am. All welcome to attend.

· Planning for the Parish Social Justice Group’s twinning project is progressing. A good deal of information on possible options in this regard has to be gathered before final decisions are taken. Research on this matter is ongoing and we will keep parishioners informed as this initiative comes closer to its final outcome.

· We draw your attention to the church bookrack, particularly to The Irish Catholic; the contents and quality of which have improved significantly in recent times.


· Boxes of Family Offering envelopes are available in the Parish Centre. Please contact the Parish Office if you require replacement envelopes.

· Please note the Parish Pastoral Centre has received a new permanent telephone line. The new telephone number is 2680041. We apologise for any inconvenience caused due to the unreliability of the original temporary line that we were supplied with.

Weekly Bulletin June 14th & 15th

Sunday, June 14th & 15th, 2008 – 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time


· This Sunday the 11.30am mass will mark the Golden Jubilee of the Ordination of Mgr. Tom Stack and his retirement as parish priest of Milltown. Bishop James Moriarty will be the main Celebrant of this Mass. Immediately afterwards a reception will take in the Parish Pastoral Centre. All are welcome to attend. The Parish Pastoral Council will make a presentation to Fr. Tom on behalf of the parish. If you wish to wish to join in this gesture as a practical expression of your own appreciation of his work in the parish, you may do so through the Parish Office.

· We wish to thank you for last weekend’s collection for the support of Dublin diocesan students preparing for Ordination to the Priesthood which amounted to €1673 and the Offertory collection which amounted to €1080.

· Our weekly Parent and Child Coffee Mornings continues to take place on Friday mornings in the Parish Centre at 10.30 am. All welcome to attend.

· A Catholic Youth Conference will be held in All Hallows College, Drumcondra on Saturday21st and Sunday 22nd June. Further details are on the Parish notice Boards.

· Catholic Youth Care, the Catholic youth organisation has written to the Parish Pastoral Council telling us about their Active Citizenship Project which encourages youth groups to take on a positive role in their local communities.
The Parish Pastoral Council has endorsed and affirmed the aims of this project, and confirms that it is ready to support such local youth groups. Through it we are trying to encourage young people and youth groups to become involved in a positive way in the life of the community. The projects are normally decided on by the youth group and be led by the young people themselves. Projects can be on any topic, and should normally contribute to the youth group becoming involved in the community and that the young people involved learn something about what It means being an active citizen in our society. · The Society of St. Vincent De Paul will be collecting their Annual Clothing Appeal bags from the church this weekend. Please return your filled bag to the church this weekend.

·The Share collection at all Masses this weekend will be replaced by a collection for the support of Dublin diocesan students preparing for Ordination to the Priesthood. Your support is very much appreciated.

·A Parish Prayer Group, guided by Fr. Alan Mowbray S.J., meets every Monday afternoon at 3pm in the Sacristy. New members welcome to attend

·Our weekly Parent and Child Coffee Mornings continues to take place on Friday mornings in the Parish Centre at 10.30 am. All welcome to attend.

·The Milltown Parish Active Retirement Group has commenced a series of ‘Gentle Activity to Music’ classes. The next session will take place on Tuesday next, June 10th, in the Parish Centre at 2.30pm.. There is no charge for this class and members of the Active Retirement Group are welcome to attend.

·Following all masses this weekend the Society of St. Vincent De Paul will be distributing collection bags for their Church Gate Annual Clothing Appeal. Please take one of the clear plastic bags home with you this weekend and return it to the church next weekend filled and ready for collection.

On Monday next, June 2nd, Mass will be celebrated at 12noon. There will be no 10am Mass on this Bank Holiday.

Friday next, June 6th is the First Friday of the month. Please let us know of any parishioners who may wish to have Holy Communion brought to them on that day.

The Share collection at all Masses next weekend will be replaced by a collection for the support of Dublin diocesan students preparing for Ordination to the Priesthood.

The Sisters of the Holy Rosary Missionaries wish to communicate their appreciation to parishioners who contributed to their outdoor collection on Sunday last. The amount collected at Milltown church was €1312 .40c.
