Saturday & Sunday, September 12th & 13th, 2009 -Twenty fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time


•We thank you for last weeks Offertory Collection which amounted to €1,300 and the Share Collection which amounted to €905.

•There will be an outdoor collection after all Masses this weekend for the Mother Mary Aikenhead Day Centre in Donnybrook. Many of our parishioners avail of this Centre’s ‘meals on wheel’ services. Your contributions to this collection will be very much appreciated.

•The Annual Collection for Crosscare – the Social Care Agency of the Dublin Diocese – will be at all Masses next weekend. This collection will replace the normal Share Collection.

•We welcome into our local Christian community Roseanne Weadick, who was baptised here on Saturday. We also congratulate her parents.

•We offer our condolences to the family of Deirdre Brangan from Mt. St. Anne’s. Her funeral Mass took place in our church during the last week.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in our parish for one hour after the 10 am Mass on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday morning.

•The Parish Pastoral Council will meet this Tuesday evenng, September 15th at 7.45pm.

•Please let one of the Priests, Sacristans or Parish Office know of any parishioners who may wish to receive Holy Communion in their home.

•Last Tuesday a new Knitting Course commenced in the Parish Centre. If you would like to join this course please contact Liz at 087, 2876907.

•Please contact Anne O’Loughlin (087- 2888542) if you are interested in attending a Tuesday afternoon Yoga Classes in the Parish Centre.

•The Art Group continues to meet in the Parish Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday evening. New members are always welcome to attend.

•A Beginner’s Bridge Class will commence at 7.45pm on Wednesday next, September 16th in the Parish Centre. This 10 week course costs €90.For further details please contact the Parish Centre.

•Next Thursday morning the Parish Centre will host a Coffee Morning in aid of Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross. All proceeds from Thursday and Sunday morning will be donated to the Hospice.

•An additional Callanetics Class (exercise based on ballet and yoga) will commence this Thursday evening at 8pm in the Parish Centre. For further details please contact Harriet at 087-9242438.

•The Adult and Toddler group continue to meet in the parish Centre at 10.30am, on Fri. mornings.

•An Irish Conversation Class takes place at 10.30am on Friday next, Sept. 11th. New members are welcome to attend this informal gathering. All levels of Irish are catered for.

•There will be a meeting of the Parish Social Justice Group at 8pm in the Parish Centre on Tuesday September 22nd. . New members are welcome to attend this meeting.

•The Milltown Parish Active Retirement Group has arranged an outing to the National Stud, the Japanese Gardens and Newbridge Cutlery. This will take place on Wednesday Sept. 30th and costs €20. Please leave your name in the Parish Centre if you wish to go on this outing.

•The Parish Centre’s Autumn Programme has been circulated to all homes in the parish during the last week. Please contact the parish office if you do not receive a copy of this publication.

•It is proposed to host a Parish Christmas Craft Fair on November 29th. Please contact the Parish Office if you are interested in becoming involved with this project.

•We are pleased to announce that a Milltown Guild of the I.C.A. was formed at the meeting which was held last Thursday in the Parish Centre. The Guilds first meeting will take place in the Parish Centre at 8pm on Monday, September 21st. Membership forms will be available on the night.

•We have been informed of a Senior Help Line which provides a confidential listening service for older people. This service is funded by the H.S.E. and is open every day from 10am till 4pm and 7pm till 10pm 365 days a year. You can contact this helpline by calling Lo Call 1850440444.

•Are you 65+ years of age? Have you a small repair job which you would like to have done for you? The Care and Repair programme (run by Age Action Ireland) uses a pool of trustworthy volunteers and handypersons to carry out minor repairs for older people. All volunteers are vetted and carry official Care and Repair identification cards. The service is free; you only pay for the materials used (though donations are welcome). For your bigger jobs, we maintain a register of reliable and honest tradespersons. You can arrange to have a job done for you by phoning the Age Action Care and Repair number which is 1890 369 369.
