Weekly Bulletin 21st & 22nd August

Parish of Saints Columbanus and Gall - Weekly Bulletin
August 21st & 22nd 2010, 21st Sunday Ordinary time



There will be a special collection at all Masses this weekend to contribute to the relief assistance and the reconstruction in Pakistan. The special collection will replace the regular Share collection.


Following the 10 am and 11.30 am Mass on Sunday next, August 29th, parishioners are invited into the Parish Pastoral Centre for tea. This gathering will provide an opportunity for parishioners to say goodbye to Fr. Gerard who will take up his new appointment in Beaumont Parish on September 1st. We wish Fr. Gerard every blessing in his new appointment.

We thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of €1135, and the Share Collection which amounted to €759.

Please contact the Parish Office if you know of any parishioner who is housebound and would like to receive Holy Communion in their home.

The Parish requires additional Altar Servers. Please contact one of the priests if your child is interested in joining this ministry. Children must have received their First Holy communion before becoming an altar server.

Any person who has a talent for singing or playing a musical instrument may be interested in joining a group who could participate in the 5.30pm Mass on Sunday evening. Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to be a member of this musical group.

Please contact the Parish Office if you have a couple of hours in the month to be friends with a person with special needs, who is a resident of St. Michael’s House.

We wish to remind parishioners that the Parish Pastoral Centre is open for Tea/Coffee every weekday and Sunday morning. Do drop in to meet some of your fellow parishioners.

If you would like to support the bereaved in our Parish a Bethany Training Course will commence in September. Interviews will be held near the end of August. For further information please contact the Parish Office at 2196740/2680041.

On Thursday 26th August at 3pm, Fr. Kevin Scallan, CM a Servite Father will celebrate Mass for families affected by cancer. This Mass will take place in Kilmacud church and will include a talk by Sr. Briege Mc. Kenna. Anointing of the sick and blessing with the Relic of St. peregrine will be included in this Liturgy. An initial meeting has taken place to organise the Parish’s first Fun Day. Additional volunteers are urgently required to help with this day.

A Milltown Parish Pilgrimage to the Holy Land will take place from October 13th – October 22nd. Flight will go direct from Dublin. Further details of this Pilgrimage are on the Parish Notice Boards. If you are interested in this visit to the Holy land please call:

August 14th & 15th 2010, – The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary


Archbishop Martin has appointed Fr. Gerard Deegan as Adm. of Beaumont Parish. Fr. Philip Bradley will replace Fr. Gerard as Adm. of Milltown Parish and will commence his appointment in September. We wish Fr. Gerard and Fr. Philip every blessing in their new appointments.

We thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of € 1101 and the Share Collection which amounted to € 748.

Patrick Humphreys, Zoey Donnelly, James Ryan and Zara Ryan were recently christened in our church. We welcome them into our Christian community and congratulate their parents.

A gold ring was found in the church. Please contact the parish office if you have lost a ring.
