Weekly Notices for 19th - 20th January 2008

Parish of Saints Columbanus and Gall - Weekly Bulletin
2nd Sunday of Ordinary Time, January 19 & 20, 2008

Christian Unity week began on Friday last and will continue until next Friday 25th. There will be a brief explanation of aspects of this Octave at each morning mass during year’s ‘church unity week’.
Our new weekly Parent and Child Coffee Mornings began on Friday last. This gathering drew up to seventy participants who were present (mother plus child/children) and continues on each Friday morning at 10am. All welcome to attend.

Bookings are now been taken for the autumn visit to Rome. While in the Eternal City, the Milltown group will be located in a most attractive residence, ‘Casa di Santa Brigida’ It is situated in the historical centre of Rome and within walking distance of the most famous sites of the city. Further details are available in the Parish office.

The Social Justice Group welcomes new members. The group was set up to develop a sense of awareness that justice is central to the Gospel and will focus on both local and international social justice. Please contact the Parish centre for further information.

The annual collection for Accord, the Diocesan Agency for Marriage and the Family, will be made at all masses next weekend.

The Parish Pastoral Council meets next Tuesday at 7.30pm. Due to the unwieldy and even confusing nature of a previous version of the dedication of our parish church, the Parish Council has opted for the shortened, unambiguous title of ‘The Parish of Sts. Columbanus & Gall’. This title embraces the memory of Ireland’s two leading missionary saints and moreover our church is believed to be the only parish in Ireland bearing their names.

A Modern Approach to Art. A 5 week art course will begin in the Centre on Tuesday, January 22 at 7.30pm. Cost; €50, Tutor for this class will be Aiden Gaffney.

At 2pm, on Wednesday next, January 23rd Yoga classes will begin in the Parish Centre. This course will continue for 8 weeks and costs €95. Tutor will be Helen Hughes. Further details are available in the Parish Centre.

We wish to thank you for last weekend’s Offertory Collection which amounted to € 1308 and the Share Collection which amounted to €878. We thank those of you who have sent in your Christmas Offerings. We are grateful for your thoughtfulness and generosity.
