Saturday & Sunday, February 27th & 28th, 2010 – Second Sunday in Lent.


• We thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of €1,167 and the Share Collection which amounted to €1,020.

Breda O’Brien, Irish Times Journalist, will speak on ‘Media and the Church’ in the second talk in our Lenten Programme. This talk will take place on Monday evening at 8pm in the Parish Pastoral Centre. The series will continue on the following 4 Monday evenings. Further details of this programme are on the Parish notice boards.

• During Lent there will be an evening Mass in our church at 6pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

• Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in our Parish Church for one hour after the 10 am Mass on Monday, Tuesday, Friday (during Lent) and Saturday morning.

• An ‘Hour of Prayer and Reflection’ will continue at 8pm in the Parish Pastoral Centre on Thursday evenings during Lent. The theme of these evenings is the Return of the Prodigal Son.

• A Novena of Grace will commence at the 10am Mass in the parish church on Thursday March 4th. This Novena will continue each day until March 12th. Names of the priests who have been invited to preach at these Masses are listed on the notices in the Church porches.

• We offer our condolences to the family and friends of Maureen Sweeney whose funeral Mass took place last Thursday morning in the Parish Church. May she rest in peace.

• We urgently require Ministers of the Eucharist and Ministers of the Word. Please call into the sacristy after Mass if you are interested in becoming involved in either of these ministries.

• We wish to remind parishioners that the Parish Pastoral Centre is open for Tea/Coffee every weekday and Sunday morning. Do drop in to meet some of your fellow parishioners.

• The Baptism Preparation meeting for parents of children who will be baptised in April will take place on next Tuesday evening at 8pm in the Parish Pastoral Centre.

• 5th Year Students from Gonzaga College will be having an outdoor collection after all Masses next weekend. This collection will be donated to a housing project in Zambia in which these students will participate.

• Sandymount Parish has arranged a Pilgrimage to Jordan and the Holy Land in May. They have a few places left and would warmly welcome parishioners from neighboring parishes to join them. Details of this Pilgrimage are on our church notice boards.

• Details of the Dublin Diocesan Young Adult Pilgrimage to Taize (July 11–18) are on the Church notice boards. Please contact the Parish Office if you are interesting in travelling with this group. The Parish is offering financial assistance to a parishioner who wishes to participate in this Diocesan Pilgrimage.

• The Parish Library, which is located in the Parish Pastoral Centre, is now open from 10am to 1pm on weekday mornings and also on Sunday mornings. Other times available on request.

• The Adult and Toddler group continue to meet in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 10.30am, on Fri. mornings.

Next Sunday’s Gospel is Luke 13:1-9.

• A Callanetics Class (exercise based on ballet and yoga) continues on Thur. evening at 8pm in the Parish Centre. For further details please contact Harriet at 087-9242438.

• An Irish Conversation Class takes place each Friday morning at 10.30am in the Parish Centre. New members are welcome to attend this informal gathering. All levels of Irish are catered for.

• Please let one of the Priests, Sacristans or Parish Office know of any parishioners who may wish to receive Holy Communion in their home.
