September 11th & 12th, 2010, 24th Sunday Ordinary time


We thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of €1,323 and the Share Collection which amounted to €930.

The Annual Collection for Crosscare – the Social care Agency of the Dublin Diocese will be at all Masses next weekend, September 18th & 19th. It will replace the normal Share Collection

We welcome into our Christian community Eoin Glynn, Evelyn O’Rourke, Lorcan Daly, and Dylan Garvin whose baptisms took place last weekend. We also congratulate their parents.

We congratulate Pat and Margaret Treanor on their 50th Wedding Anniversary which was celebrated in our church on Wednesday last.

Congratulations to Cliona O’Connor and Graham Dent who were married in our church on Friday September 10th.

We offer our condolences to the Loughman family and friends on the death of their nephew Brian Howard Loughman. A memorial Mass took place in our parish church on Wednesday last.

There are still some copies of the Parish Autumn Programme in the sacristy awaiting distribution. We ask parishioners (who kindly helped to deliver this publication on previous occasions) to collect some of these newsletters and deliver them to homes in their neighbourhood over the next few days. Please contact the Parish Office if you have not received your copy of this parish publication.

The Milltown Guild of the I.C.A. will continue their ‘Thursday Craft Morning’ at 10am in the Parish Pastoral Centre. This gathering will provide an opportunity for craft workers to share their creative talents. The Crochet Group will also meet at this time.

The Milltown Parish Active Retirement Group will visit Mellifont Abbey and Carlingford on Wednesday September 15th. If you would like to go on this outing please give your name into the Parish Pastoral Centre before September 8th. The cost for this outing is €20. Please note that the bus will leave Milltown at 9.15am sharp on Wednesday morning.

The Milltown Parish Book Club will meet in the Parish pastoral centre at 10.30am on Wednesday Sept. 15th. New members are welcome to join this group.

There will be a Coffee Morning in the Parish Pastoral Centre on next Thursday, September 16th. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Our Lady’s Hospice in Harold’s Cross.

Please contact the Parish Office if you have a couple of hours in the month to be friends with a person with special needs, who is a resident of St. Michael’s House.

Greg O’ Rourke’s 4 week Cookery Course will be recommencing in the Parish Pastoral Centre on Thursday October 7th. For further details please contact Greg at 086, 3346485 /4426145.

Planning for the Milltown Parish Fun Day is well under way. However additional volunteers are urgently required to help on the day.
Please contact the Parish Office if you are willing to help with this event.

A Milltown Parish Pilgrimage to the Holy Land will take place from October 13th – October 22nd. Flight will go direct from Dublin. Further details of this Pilgrimage are on the Parish Notice Boards. If you are interested in this visit to the Holy land please call:

We wish to remind parishioners that the Parish Pastoral Centre is open for Tea/Coffee every weekday and Sunday morning. Do drop in to meet some of your fellow parishioners.

The Parish requires additional Altar Servers. Please contact one of the priests if your child is interested in joining this ministry. Children must have received their First Holy communion before becoming an altar server.

Please contact the Parish Office if you know of any parishioner who is housebound and would like to receive Holy Communion in their home.


Details of a forthcoming ‘Residential Weekend for the Bereaved’ are on the Parish Notice Boards. Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to attend. This weekend explores the loss of our loved ones and the meaning of death from a Christian perspective through prayer, meditation, discussion, videos and sharing.
