Weekly Bulletin 13th & 14th August 2011


Thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of €1061, and the Share Collection which amounted to €803.

Sean Loughman was baptised in our church last weekend. We welcome him into our Christian community and congratulate his parents and grandparents

Condolences to the family and friends of the late Carmel Byrne & Patrick Kilbride who died last weekend.

This Monday, August the 15th is the Feast of the Assumption. Masses for this Holy Day are at 10am, 11.30am and 5.30pm.

APOSTOLIC WORK:
(Dublin Centre) (under the patronage of His Grace, the Archbishop of Dublin): Apostolic Work is currently putting together Mass Kits for the Third World, Uganda in particular. They are looking for sewers or stitchers to join them in their work. If you feel you have the sewing skills required and would like to help them achieve their goal please call Mary O Reilly on 086 8891236

COMMUNION IN THE HOME
We invite parishioners to inform the priests if any members of their families or neighbours who may be housebound and would wish the Eucharist to be taken to them periodically.

A selection of C.D’s from the Lassus Scholars and & Piccolo Lasso are available for sale in the Parish Pastoral Centre.

The Parish Adult & Toddler Group have taken a summer break and will return to the Parish Pastoral Centre on Friday Sept. 2nd

The Parish Pastoral Centre is open for tea and coffee every weekday and Sunday morning. Do drop in and meet with your fellow parishioners

The Diocesan committee charged with planning and preparing with Dublin parishes in the lead up to the Eucharistic Congress in June next year have published a leaflet containing information on the Volunteer Programme for the Congress. Copies of this publication are available for collection at the back of the church

During the holiday season it may be difficult for Ministers of the Word and Ministers of the Eucharist to maintain their place in the rosters. We ask ministers to organise a replacement for Masses which they are unable to attend. Thanks to other ministers who may be called on at short notice.

The Liturgy Resource Centre will hold their Autumn Gathering on October 1st from 9.30 -1.00pm: The four workshops available on the day will be: Best practice for those who train & look after Altar Servers; Anthology of Music for the New Translation of the Roman Missal; Presentation of the Eucharist and Liturgy Groups.

Interested in a Qualification in Pastoral Work/Chaplaincy?
Applications are being considered now for the MA in Chaplaincy Studies and Pastoral work at Mater Dei Institute. This is a one year full time course. Candidates need to have a primary degree and 60 credits in Theology.

Communion arrangements for coeliac sufferers:
If you would like to receive from the chalice you should call into the sacristy before Mass. A chalice will be placed on a table at the side of the altar. You may process to the altar with the congregation to receive Holy Communion. You may also bring a low gluten host into the sacristy before Mass.

Upcoming conference ‘Parish Prevention of Substance Misuse’. This conference is a joint initiative by Crosscare Drug & Alcohol Programme and the Irish Bishops Drugs Initiative. The aim of the Conference is to show positive and simple ways in which a parish can play a part in prevention and awareness of drug and alcohol misuse and to highlight supports available to parishes within the Dublin Diocese in relation to education and training.

Age Action Care & Repair Programme:
Are you 60+ years of age? Have you a small repair job which you would like to have done for you? The Care and Repair programme (run by Age Action Ireland) uses a pool of trustworthy volunteers and handypersons to carry out minor repairs for older people. All volunteers are vetted and carry official Care and Repair identification cards. The service is free; you only pay for the materials used. For your bigger jobs, we maintain a register of reliable and honest tradespersons. We are also accepting requests for small gardening jobs. You can arrange to have a job done for you by phoning the Age Action Care and Repair number which is 1890 369 369 or 01-4756989
