Ascension of the Lord

Monday next, May 5th is a Bank Holiday. Mass will not be celebrated in Milltown Church on the Bank Holiday as a professional cleaning of the church floor will commence early on in the day. We appeal to all of our voluntary cleaners to come along on Thursday morning to help prepare the church for Sunday, May 11th.

A Parish Prayer Group, guided by Fr. Alan Mowbray S.J., meets every Monday afternoon at 3pm in the Sacristy. New members welcome to attend.

Our weekly Parent and Child Coffee Mornings continues to take place on Friday mornings in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 10.30 am. All welcome to attend. Please note that due to preparation required for the official opening of the Parish Pastoral Centre on Sunday 11th there will not be a meeting of the Parent and Child group on Friday May 9th

The Milltown Parish Local History Society have organised a Photographic Exhibition of ‘Milltown Old and New’. This exhibition is on display in the Parish Pastoral Centre until May 7th 2008. The History Society would be very grateful for a loan of any old Milltown photographs to add to this display. All photographs will be returned to owners at end of exhibition. The Milltown Parish Active Retirement group have commenced a series of ‘Gentle Activity to Music’ classes. The next session will take place on Tuesday next, May 6th at 2.30pm. in the Parish Pastoral Centre. There is no charge for this class and members of the Active Retirement Group are welcome to attend.

Yoga Classes have recommenced in the Parish pastoral Centre on Wednesday afternoons at 2pm. For further details ring Helen Hughes at 2156400 / 08704189140 or call to the Parish Centre on Wednesday next. This course is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Details of the proposed Parish Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela are available in the Parish Office and on the parish notice boards. A number of parishioners have already expressed interest in this journey.

We are happy to announce that President Mary Mc Aleese and our Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will both be with us for the 5.30 pm Mass on Pentecost Sunday (May 11th) . This is on the occasion of the official blessing and opening of our new Parish Pastoral Centre which will take place immediately after the Mass. Afterwards there will be a reception for parishioners and guests. The parish Pastoral Centre will not be open on Sunday morning next.

We wish to thank you for last weekend’s Offertory Collection which amounted to €1243 and the Share Collection which amounted to €835.

We thank those of you who have sent in your Easter Offerings. We are grateful for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Acknowledgements will be sent out in due course.

N.B. Additional Car Parking: Some 40 car parking spaces are now available at the underground car park to the rear Maple Hall. Access is through the entrance between Maple Hall and St. Broc’s. It is open during Saturday and Sunday masses. We invite parishioners to avail of this convenient and accessible facility.

Dr. Una Agnew, (associate Professor at Milltown Institute of Philosophy & Theology) will be giving a lecture on “The Spirituality of Patrick Kavanagh”in St. Mary’s Church, Haddington Rd. on Thursday May 8th at 8pm. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend
