Apostolic Visitation of Cardinal Sean O’ Malley re. child sexual abuse.

Our Archbishop has asked us to inform parishioners that The Apostolic Visitation by Cardinal Sean O’Malley has begun. The ‘Visitator’ has had initial meetings with survivors, priests and lay people working in the area of child safeguarding. Cardinal O’Malley is willing – in so far as possible- to meet with priests and parishioners. Those wishing to meet the cardinal should forward him a letter, marked confidential, to the Apostolic Nunciature at 183 Navan Road, Dublin 7. Cardinal O’ Malley is also pleased to receive written communications.

In spite of the inclement weather on Sunday last, our Christmas Craft and Home Produce Fair was a great success! Many thanks to all who donated goods and attended the event. A special word of thanks goes to the committee who organised this successful social gathering and fund raising sale. There are still some craft items from the sale available for purchase in the Parish Pastoral Centre.

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Harold’s Cross will have their annual Light up a Life Ceremony of Remembrance at 4pm on this Sun. Dec. 5th,

The Parish Adult & Toddler Group meets in the Parish Pastoral centre at 10.30am on
Friday mornings.

PARISH ADVENT PROGRAMME
‘Advent People through Art’
Dr. Eileen Kane, a member of the Dublin Diocesan Commission for Sacred Art & Architecture will present her second talk on Advent in the Parish Pastoral Centre on Monday night at 8pm. All welcome to attend.

Next Wednesday, Dec. 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The Vigil Mass on Tuesday will take place at 6pm. Masses on Wednesday are at the same as our Sunday Masses, i.e. 10am, 11.30am & 5.30pm.

A Triduum in Honor of The Immaculate Conception commences in Church of the Most Holy Name, Beechwood Ave., Ranelagh on Monday 6th December, Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th December. Daily Mass at 10.00 a.m. & 7.30 p.m. will be followed by The Miraculous Medal Novena Prayers & Rosary. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place on Wednesday 8th December from 9.15 a.m. - 1.00 p.m." (Organised by the Legion of Mary - Beechwood Avenue)

The annual Diocesan Church Collection for the Society of St. Vincent De Paul will take place at all Masses next weekend.

The 10 am Mass on Sunday next, Dec. 12th, is part of the ‘Do this in Memory of Me’ programme for children who will be receiving their First Holy Communion next year.

The Milltown Parish Active Retirement Group is now taking bookings for their Annual Christmas Dinner which will be held in Milltown Golf Club on Dec. 11th. Further details on Parish Notice Boards

An Introduction to Church Music of Advent with Tim Thurston (of Gloria fame on RTE Lyric FM), which was scheduled to take place at St. Fergal’s Church, Bray on Wed. 1st Dec. at 8.00p.m, has now been transferred to Wednesday December 8th This event is organised by Bray Churches Together.

The Church Book Rack has been replenished and now has some informative & interesting publications for sale.

A ‘Craft Morning’ takes place in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 10.30 on Thursday mornings. This gathering provides an opportunity for all who knit, sew, crochet or whatever, to share their creative talents.
New members welcome.

Aware 10km Christmas Run will take place in the Phoenix Park Dublin on December 11th at 10am. Registration for the run is €20.00 and you can sign up on line before Dec. 2nd http://www.aware.ie/events/register/aware10k.php please note that online registration closes on 2nd December.

Crosscare Launch “Thanks to Teachers”:
Parents and kids are being asked to buy a very special present for their teacher this Christmas - a helping hand to those most in need. Instead of buying gifts this year - we are asking you to make a donation to Crosscare (www.crosscare.ie) and download our specially designed Thanks for Teachers cards.

The Rathmines Women’s Refuge on Lr. Rathmines Rd. (opposite Rathmines Church) urgently requires ladies and children’s clothing, bedding and toys. Please consider dropping some of these items into the Refuge, your donations will be very much appreciated.

The Parish Pastoral Centre is open for Tea/Coffee every weekday and Sunday morning. Do drop in to meet some of your fellow parishioners.

We invite parishioners to inform the priests if any members of their families or neighbours who may be housebound and would wish the Eucharist to be taken to them periodically.
