Weekly Bulletin 15th & 16th October 2011

Thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of €1200 and the Share Collection which amounted to €968.

A special welcome to children and their families to today’s 10am Mass. This liturgy has been arranged with younger parishioners in mind.

This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of the death of Sean O’ Riada.
O’Riada was born in Cork in 1931. He played the violin, piano and organ. He attended UCC and graduated with a degree in Greek and Latin. In 1959 he scored the music for Mise Eire. In 1964 he became involved in church music and composed ‘Aifreann 2’. In Irish churches, O’Riada’s music is best remembered by his well known and much loved Offertory Hymn: Ag Criost an Saoil.

We ask parents to have a close look at the scooters which their children brought home after our Open Day! A parent who attended the Open day has contacted us re. a scooter which was misplaced at our Open day. Some child has mistakenly brought home the wrong scooter! Please contact the Parish Office at 2196740 if you can help with this matter.

Milltown Parish Pastoral Council
Parish 5 year plan: The Parish Council invites submissions from parishioners on: ‘What sort of Parish would you like to be part of in 5 years time?’

OCTOBER. 23rd 2011
The theme of next week’s Mission Sunday is ‘Together in Faith’. The universal mission involves everyone, everything and always. The Gospel is not an exclusive possession of those who have received it, but it is a gift to be shared, good news to be passed on to others. The 1,762 Irish missionaries working in 84 countries have been supported by the prayers, sacrifices and material help of countless people over the years. With this in mind we ask parishioners to be as generous as possible to next weekend’s collection for Mission Sunday which will replace the Share Collection at all Masses.

A memory stick containing happy family photographs has been found in the parish church. Please contact the Parish Office

Falling Leaves: The recent heavy wind has left gardens and footpaths littered with leaves. It is essential that the leaves are swept up as quickly as possible to avoid blocking of gullies. Plastic bags can be acquired free of charge from the Cleansing Depot in Rathmines and these bags will be picked up also free of charge by the Council, provided of course that the bags only contain leaves. On footpaths where there is a very heavy volume of leaves, bags are of very little use but if residents sweep them into large piles the Council will remove them swiftly by using their Rapid Response Vehicles. This would greatly help Waste Management and prevent flooding in future months. You can contact waste management to collect piles of swept up leaves by emailing customercare@dublincity.ie or 12224240
