Special edition postage stamps have been issued by the Vatican to commemorate the 50th International Eucharistic Congress held in Dublin in June. The Vatican’s Philatelic and Numismatic Office has produced 12 stamps for 2012, two of which are described as being “distinctly Irish”. The images on these stamps pay tribute to the land of Ireland and the sharing of the Gospel in Ireland. They include a Celtic Cross from the Rock of Cashel in Tipperary and the Ardagh Chalice. The stamps can be bought at the Vatican Post Office in Saint Peter’s Square and from the philatelic and numismatic office website at vaticanstate.va by following the links to the post office.
Parish Ministry Volunteering Days,
“It is necessary to improve pastoral structures in such a way that the co-responsibility of all the members of the people of God in their entirety is gradually promoted. This demands a change in mind-set, particularly concerning lay people. They must no longer be viewed as collaborator of the clergy but truly recognised as co-responsible for the Church's being and action, thereby fostering the consolidation of a mature and committed laity”. (Pope Benedict, Pastoral Convention, Diocese of Rome, 26th May 2009)
The Parish will have its two Ministry Volunteering Days this weekend. They will take place after Saturday evening and Sunday morning Masses. Parishioners are invited into the Parish Pastoral Centre to meet with representatives from the existing ministries. These representatives will answer questions you may have regarding the ministry that you may be interested in joining.
A list of these ministries, which contains details of what the existing volunteers do, is available at the church doors.
We encourage parishioners to consider becoming involved in one of our ministries.
