Weekly Bulletin 26th & 27th January 2013



Thank you for the €1,512 which you donated to last Sunday’s collection for the Support of Priests of the Parish (& Dioceses) and for the Share Collection which amounted to €1003.

Our condolences to the family and friends of the late Ellen Doran whose funeral Mass took place here during the last week.

We thank those of you who have already returned your Christmas Dues. Dues envelopes may be placed in the collection bags at Mass, given to one of the priests or handed into the Sacristy or the Parish Office.

VOLUNTEERS:
The Parish plans to start computerizing its records over the next couple of months. If you have experience in data inputting perhaps you could volunteer to help with this task. Please contact Fr. Philip if you are available to help.

MARY AIKENHEAD DAY CARE CENTRE:
There will be an outdoor collection after all Masses next weekend for the Mary Aikenhead Day Centre in Donnybrook. This Centre provides excellent day care for elderly people, many of whom are from this parish. The Centre also provides meals on wheels. Please be as generous as you can.

The Annual RADHARC MEMORIAL MASS will take place in our church at 3pm on this Sunday afternoon. Refreshments will be served after Mass in the Parish Pastoral Centre and will be followed by the screening of two Radharc Films. All welcome to come along.

PARISH BAPTISM PREPARATION
A meeting for the parents and Godparents of children who are to be baptised here next weekend, will take place in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 8pm on Monday, January 28th

LITURGY GROUP MEETING:
The Parish Liturgy group will meet at 8pm on Thursday next, Jan. 31st

CLOTHES AND BLANKETS FOR THE HOMELESS IN OUR CITY:
A parishioner who is a member of TRUST (a small and busy agency which provides services to people who are homeless in our city) has asked us to appeal to parishioners for some warm clothes or blankets that can be given to the homeless. in Dublin. For further details please contact the Parish Office.

BECOME A C.C.!
Some additional volunteers are required to help with the weekly cleaning of our church. Please contact me if you have an hour to give to this voluntary work which takes place on Thursday morning. This ministry is open to both men and women.

DUBLIN DIOCESAN 21st WORLD DAY of the SICK 2013:
The following two Diocesan events will mark our 21st Celebration of the World day of the Sick. On Saturday February 9th a conference called ‘Share the Good News – The Word of God and the Sick’ will take place in All Hallows College. (Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to attend this conference). At 3pm on Sunday, February 10th, Mass with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will take place in Our Lady of Victories Parish, Ballymun Road.

TABLE QUIZ:
The Grouped Parishes of Sandford and St Philips Milltown are having a Table Quiz at 8pm on Wednesday 30th January in St Philip’s Hall (Temple Road, Dartry). The cost is €12.50 per person, tables of (up to) 4, and includes finger food. Tables can be formed on the night. While it is not necessary to book a table it would be helpful to have an idea of numbers prior to the event, so if you are planning to attend perhaps you would e-mail sandfordandstphilips@eircom.net or tel./text 086 0386432 All welcome

The celebration of WORLD DAY FOR CONCECRATED LIFE invites all the Church to reflect on the role of Consecrated Life within the Christian community. In Dublin it will be celebrated on Friday 1st February at 8pm in the Church of the Holy Child, Whitehall. SILVER SCREEN IN AVILA:

NULLAMORE ANIMATION CAMP:
A course on making movie clips from models made of plasticine, wood and card will take place in Nullamore on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th February 2013, 9.30am to 3pm. This course costs €45 and is suitable for boys

REDEMPTORIST COMMUNICATIONS
(Marianella, Orwell Rd. Rathgar) have arranged a training day for parishioners who wish to become involved in Children’s Liturgies in their own parishes. This course will take place in Rathgar on Saturday 23rd Feb. from 10.30am to 4pm. Please contact the Parish office if you wish to attend this training day.

“Learning to Forgive and to Lead the Joyous Life”.
The Parishes of Mount Argus, Rathmines and Harold’s Cross, invite you to attend this lecture at 8pm on Monday 4th February in Our Lady of the Rosary, Harold’s Cross. This presentation will be given by Dr Robert Enright who is a licensed psychologist and professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a founding member of the International Forgiveness Institute. The talk will take 45 minutes and it will be followed by a time for questions and discussions.

THE MILLS OF MILLTOWN
Clonskeagh’s Residents Association
has arranged a talk on The Mills of Milltown which will take place at 7.30pm on Monday Feb. 4th in the Milltown Parish Pastoral Centre. This talk will be presented by Rob Goodbody. Talk will be followed by a cup of tea. All welcome.

Pilgrimages to the Holy Land in April and May:
These 9 day pilgrimages take in all the major sites - Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Cana, Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea. In addition to a local guide there is an Irish Spiritual Leader who will celebrate Mass each day at one of the sacred shrines.
