Weekly Bulletin 14th & 15th May 2011

Thank you for last Sunday’s Offertory Collection of €1,292 and the Share Collection which amounted to €1,060.

Next Sunday’s Share collection will be replaced by a collection to support the Dublin diocesan students who are preparing for Ordination to the priesthood.

Condolences to the family and friends of the late Anne Bennett.. Her Funeral Mass took place here during the past week.

Congratulations to the children from Alexander College who received their First Holy Communion in our parish church on Saturday morning.

The final evening of the Radharc Films series will take place at 8pm on Thursday evening. . All invited to attend.

Twenty girls from the Junior School in Alexander College will be confirmed by Rev. Ciaran O’ Carroll at 11am on next Friday morning.

Welcome to the Cor na Nog choir who will be singing at the 11.30am Mass on Sunday next, the 22nd of May..

The Church Book Rack has been replenished and now has some informative & interesting publications for sale.

A Photographic Exhibition in aid of the Carers Association was opened in the Parish Pastoral Centre on Friday evening. Photographs taken by Maureen Mc. Donnell, who is a member of the Royal Photographic Society, will be on display throughout the weekend. The Carer’s Association represents a large number of carers who give voluntary care to their loved ones who are elderly and frail, seriously ill people, those with disabilities, and children with special needs. Do drop into the centre during next weekend to view these wonderful photographs. Framed copies of the Artists work will be available for sale at the exhibition.

In response to the interest and concerns of their parishioners, the Rathgar Parish Pastoral Council is holding an information / discussion event on the New Missal on Thursday May 31st. Fr. Damien McNiece and Fr. Padraig Mc Carthy have agreed to be present at this meeting. Time and venue of this event are still to be confirmed and will be included in next week’s bulletin.

The Parish Pastoral Centre is open for Tea/Coffee every weekday and Sunday morning. Do drop in to meet some of your fellow parishioners.

The Parish Adult & Toddler Group meet in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 10.30am on Friday mornings

The Parish Bethany Bereavement Support Group has invited Maeve Douglas who is a psychotherapist and Bereavement Counsellor, to speak in the Parish Pastoral Centre. This talk will take place on Monday May 23rd at 8pm. All are welcome to attend.

Milltown Parish Pastoral Council
The following items were discussed at the Parish Pastoral Council meeting which was held last Tuesday.
Eucharistic Congress: information on this Congress will soon be placed on display in the church.
New Missal: an invitation to attend the forthcoming information/discussion evening in Rathgar Parish was received .
Parish Social Justice Group: the reforming of this Parish group was considered. Parishioners, both young and old, are invited to join this ministry.
Open Day: the committee who organised this event last year will schedule a meeting to commence preparations for a Parish Open Day this September.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is seeking your help in its Annual Clothing Appeal in this parish. The appeal is for clean, good quality clothes, bedclothes, curtains, shoes etc. There are bags available for collection at the back of the church. The Society will collect bags from outside of the church on next Sunday morning. The Society is very conscious of the tremendous support given by the Milltown Parishioners for their charitable works over the years. They would like to thank you all most sincerely on behalf of all those you have helped.

Claire Hutchison from Foroige will address the congregation at Masses this weekend. Foroige is the National Youth Development Organisation which is a voluntary organisation that engages members of the community in youth development and education. Foróige believes that each person is unique and creative and can contribute to improving the world in which they live. It enables young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and in the development of society. Claire will facilitate an open meeting in the Parish Pastoral Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, May 24th. The purpose of this meeting will be to asses the needs of teenagers within this parish.

Communion arrangements for coeliac sufferers: If you would like to receive from the chalice you should call into the sacristy before Mass. A chalice will be placed on a table at the side of the altar. You may process to the altar with the congregation to receive Holy Communion.

Eight Annual Walk in Aid of the Capuchin Day Centre: On Sunday June the 5th a small group of pilgrims will set out from the Sally Gap and walk to the Capuchin Friary in church Street arriving for the Gospel Mass at 7.00pm. For full details see www.dublindiocese.ie
