Volunteers are required for the 50th International Congress which will take place in Dublin from the 10th to the 17th June 2012. It is expected that 25,000 pilgrims from Ireland and overseas will take participate each day. Volunteers have an integral role to play in the success of this IEC2012. Between two and three thousand volunteers are required to assist in organising this event.
Volunteers are invited from all walks of life across the island of Ireland. Volunteers will have an opportunity to show what Ireland is all about: excellence, passion, friendship, faith and positivity. Volunteering at this unique occasion will enable you to build new friendships, develop new skills, deepen your spirituality and play an integral role at the heart of one of the largest events to be staged in Ireland in 2012.
Training sessions will be held prior to the Congress. Volunteers are required for a variety of roles which include the following: administration, hospitality, transport, meet & greet data entry, language assistance (spoken & written), manual labour, marketing, music, pastoral preparation, photography and much more. Volunteers must be aged over 18 on the 1st of January 2011. Groups of young people over 16 years accompanied by a guardian are also welcome to apply as volunteers. All Congress volunteers must also be resident on the island of Ireland.

The first training session for volunteers will take place on Saturday the 19th November in the RDS, with a repeat session on Monday 28th Nov. at 7.30pm., so a speedy response is required!

An outdoor collection for the Peter McVerry Trust takes place after all Masses this weekend. This Dublin charity supports some of the most disadvantaged young people in our society. It is committed to reducing the impact of homelessness, drug misuse and social disadvantage through housing and drug rehabilitation which helps people to move towards independent living. Please be as generous as you can.

A Memorial Mass, for the repose of the souls of Milltown parishioners who died during the past year, will take place at 7.30pm on Monday evening November 14th. Invitations to attend this liturgy have been posted to each family who have been bereaved during the last 12 months.
This year’s Christmas Craft & Home Produce Fair will take place between 10am. & 2pm, on Sunday, Nov. 27th. Parishioners are invited to bring homemade cakes, sweets, biscuits, scones, preserves, tray bakes etc. to the Fair. All donations will be gratefully accepted!
A course for Ministers of the Word will be held in St. Paul’s Church at Smithfield on Arran Quay. This course will be held on four Monday nights – Nov. 14th and 21st, December 5th and 12th. In recent years this course has been very well received by readers from different parishes in the Diocese. Please contact the Parish office if you would like to attend this course and are able to attend at least 3 of the 4 sessions Places need to be booked and the parish will cover the cost of each reader who attends.

The Annual Radharc Memorial Mass will take place in our church on Sunday 13th Nov at 3pm. Refreshments will be served after Mass in the Parish Pastoral Centre and will be followed by the screening of two Radharc Films. All welcome.
Fundraising concert:
The Order of the Knights of St Columbanus is holding a fundraising concert on Friday 18th November in the RDS, in aid of their Christmas Day dinner for the Homeless. The concert will feature Liam Lawton and special guests. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are €20 and are available from Ticket master
Softlight Photography DSLR Beginners Photography course.
A photography training course will take place in the Parish Pastoral Centre from 10-12 on Saturday November 12th. This two hour course teaches you the basic principals of SLR photography. You will learn how to adjust your aperture for portraits and landscapes, how to use your shutter speed to photograph night time and also movement. We will also cover ISO to maintain the optimum light in your photographs. This is a hands on course with lots of practical experience. The course costs €45 per person. Day For Yourself: The monthly ‘Day for yourself’ in Orlagh Retreat Centre will be held on Saturday 12th November from 10am- 4.30pm. The theme is “Enriching our lives and the lives of others” and will explore the potential and opportunities we have to develop our own gifts and in doing so make a difference to those around us. The day will be led by Dr. Bernadette Toal and Fr. John Byrne. There will be an opportunity for Mass at 4.30pm. Cost €50 including a full lunch.
Scripture Day: Sean Goan will conduct his annual introduction to the gospel of the following year under the heading The Eucharistic Community in the Gospel of Mark on Sunday 13th November from 10am -5pm. Mass will be included in the day. Cost €55.

O Sacrament Most Holy: The new CD of the Palestrina Choir – O Sacrament Most Holy – with choral music on the theme of the Eucharist is now available from the Pro-Cathedral and from Veritas.
