Weekly Bulletin 16th & 17th March

Pope Francis
Apparently it’s Pope Francis and not Francis I, maybe to say Francis I would presume that future Popes might take the name, which could be presumptuous, I suppose? Either way, let’s pray for God’s blessing on him and the whole Church.
We’ll certainly see lots of Pope Francis during the Easter Ceremonies. While it’s still Lent, it can be difficult to think of Holy week, but Lent leads up to Holy week. In fact, Lent only makes sense because of Holy week. So here’s a few pointers for the Easter Ceremonies in Milltown.
Palms will blessed at the beginning of Mass on Palm Sunday. We’ll have a procession from the side door (near the Parish Centre) around to the front door and into the Church. Psalm will be available at the Side door only, when there is a procession.
Lent actually ends on the Wed of Holy week, because we enter the Easter Triduum. The Triduum starts on Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Last Supper and ends with the Vigil on Sat night. We process from Holy Thursday Mass into the Parish Centre to the Altar of repose. On Good Friday we continue with the Passion Ceremony. There is no opening hymn because we’re not starting something new, we are just continuing the Triduum which began on Thur. and there’s no closing hymn because, we’re not finished; we just take a sort of rest until the Vigil on Sat night.
Let’s do so with a lively faith, as the prayer says. And remember our new Pope in our prayers along the way.

Fr. Philip Adm
(Delighted with Pope Francis)
