Weekly Bulletin 25th & 26th May

With great Joy....
During Rite of Reception (in the Baptism ceremony) the Priest says to the child “the Christian community welcomes you with great Joy” the only problem is that when a baptism takes place on a Saturday morning the Christian Community isn’t there!
Many parishioners have commented on the Baptism Pilot programme, on behalf of the Diocese, which took place during Eastertide. You may have noticed that we had the Rite of Reception at one Mass with the actual conferring of the Sacrament two weeks later. Our next task is to send our feed-back to the Diocese and await the production of a Diocesan policy or guidelines. Having the ceremony over different Sundays means that, although the Baptisms do take place during Mass it doesn’t prolong it. We renew the Baptism promises in place of the Creed, and use the prayer of the faithful from the Baptism Rite.
I imagine that the Diocesan guidelines will suggest that a least the Rite of Reception will take place during Mass, it is a great Joy to have new members joining our community/parish.

More joy! At the 11.30 Mass on Sunday 9th June, there will be a celebration to mark particular Marriage anniversaries, (Silver, Ruby, Gold and Diamond). So do let us know if you’re one of the lucky couples, we’d like to make a little fuss of you and congratulate you on the day (names to Parish Office or Fr. Philip).
On September 1st at the 10 am Mass we hope to have Anointing of the Sick in anticipation of the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes (7-12th). The idea is that we will accompany the Pilgrimage from a distance. At the Mass we will have a box for petitions to be brought to Lourdes. More on this later.

Fr. Philip (Joyfully!!)

Thank you for the €1,339 which you donated to last Sunday’s collection for the Support of Priests of the Parish (& Dioceses) and for the Share Collection which amounted to €988.

Pope Francis will participate in a period of Eucharistic Adoration which will be televised for the first time throughout the world on Sunday June 2nd when the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) is celebrated. Children from this parish who have received their First Holy Communion in other churches this year are particularly invited to come along to the 10am Mass on Sunday June 2nd. Attendance at this Mass will provide an opportunity for our parish community to congratulate and cherish these young parishioners who recently celebrated the beginning of a significantly closer relationship with Christ and our community.
