Weekly Bulletin 28th & 29nd January 2012

World Day of the Sick
On 13 May 1992, a number of years following an assassination attempt on his life that led to a time of suffering and the experience of being seriously ill in hospital, Blessed John Paul II launched a World Day of the Sick, which coincides each year in the Church across the world with the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes on 11 February. Pope Benedict XVI has continued this special World Day – an occasion during which the whole Church bears witness with special concern to the tender mercy and love of God towards all who suffer. It is a time to pause and be prayerfully in solidarity with the sick and with all who care for the sick.
The Dublin Diocesan celebration of the 20th World Day of the Sick will be held in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Mourne Road, Drimnagh on next Sunday 5th Feb at 3pm. Are you 60+ years of age? Have you a small repair job which you would like to have done for you? The Care and Repair programme (run by Age Action Ireland) uses a pool of trustworthy volunteers and handypersons to carry out minor repairs for older people. All volunteers are vetted and carry official Care and Repair identification cards. The service is free; you only pay for the materials used. For your bigger jobs, we maintain a register of reliable and honest tradespersons. We are also accepting requests for small gardening jobs. You can arrange to have a job done for you by phoning the Age Action Care and Repair number which is 01-4756989.
