Weekly Bulletin 14 & 15 July

An interview with God

I dreamed I had an interview with God.
“So you would like to interview me?” God asked.
“If you have the time”, I said.
God smiled, “My time is eternity.”
“What questions do you have in mind for me?”
“What surprises you about humankind?”
God answered......
“That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again,”
“That they lose their health to make money.....
and then lose their money to restore their health”.
“That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future”.
“That they live as if they will never die, and die as if they had never lived.”
God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.
And then I asked...............
“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?
“To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves to be loved.”
“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”
“To learn to forgive by practising forgiveness.”
“To learn that it takes only a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can
take many years to heal them.”
“To learn that a rich person is not one who has most, but is one who needs the least”
“To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.”
“To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.”
“Thank you for your time” I said humbly.”
“Is there anything else you would like your children to know”?
GOD smiled and said—“Just that I am here ..........always”

Thought this made sense! Fr. Philip

Thank you for the €1089 which you donated to last Sunday’s collection for the Support of Priests of the Dioceses and for the Share Collection amounted to €831.

Max and Harry Howles, Grace O’Connor and Cormac de Burca were baptised in our church last weekend. We welcome them into our Christian community and congratulate their parents and godparents.

Our condolences to the family and friends of the late Ned Brennan, Anthony Harvey and Helena Murnaghan whose funeral Masses took place here during the last week.

There will be an outdoor collection for the Pro Life Trust after all Masses this weekend. The Trust funds the work of the Pro Life Campaign that works to educate political representatives and the wider public about the dignity and humanity of the unborn child and to work towards restoring full legal protection to the unborn child in Ireland. Please be as generous as you can.

LOCAL AUTHOR!
Copies of the recent publication called “Penal Places, Artifacts and People in the Archdiocese of Dublin” are available on our Church Book Rack and in the Parish pastoral Centre. This booklet, which was edited by Fr. Kevin Bartley from our neighbouring parish of Clonskeagh, was an initiative of the Dublin Diocesan preparatory Committee of the I.E.C.2012. The information presented tells the story of the survival of our faith in difficult times. A copy of this guide would fit in the glove compartment of your car and would be a very handy source of reference for you when you are visiting churches throughout the diocese.
